The demonstrations will allow you to learn from local residents that are active in various outdoor activities and conservation professionals. These folks will share their love of the outdoors, how they got started and how they enjoy the activities they participate in. Come see a dog in action as Luke Squiers, Tama, demonstrates how he trains his dog for field trials. Bob and Connie Van Ersvelde, Grinnell, will engage visitors in netting and banding songbirds, while Chris Anderson, Naturalist, will show folks how to perform blacksmithing.

Some of the hands on activities will include: archery, air rifle shooting, making your own apple cider, and a craft station for the kids.

A mini- marketplace will be set up in the Nature Center parking lot where you can purchase something to eat. Also expected is a display of hand-crafted jewelry, a beekeeper with fresh Iowa honey, and a wood-carver who creates beautiful mushroom carvings.

Come join the fun on Sunday, October 9, from 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. at Otter Creek Lake and Park!
