The Yard of the Month award for the month of September went to Craig and Julie Dunlap at 905 Blaine Street. The award is sponsored by the Dysart Development Corporation in an effort to recognize the good yard-keeping practices which keep the town of Dysart looking beautiful.

Craig Dunlap does the majority of the yard work and has had a lot of practice to learn along the way. In fact, Craig put in his own golfing green in his backyard when they lived in Texas for 11 years before moving back to Dysart.

You would think that Craig was a professional landscaper by looking at the yard. It is perfectly manicured with a variety of unique plants perfectly placed in numerous flower beds throughout the property. He recently put in about 300 ft. of flower beds (including four new beds last fall) and installed a fence around the perimeter of the backyard.

The flower beds were perfectly planned so that there would be pops of color all year long. There are some shade flower beds and some sun flower beds. Some of the plants which are featured in the yard are Coxcombs, Hydrangea shrubs, Elephant Ear plants, ornamental grasses, and Aster Mums?just to name a few. Craig saves the seeds each year for planting in the next.
