Clover Kids is a fun 4-H program specifically designed for children in kindergarten through third grade. The overall purpose of the Iowa 4-H Clover Kids program is to foster the development of life skills that are essential for the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical maturation of kindergarten through third graders by providing a unique, age-appropriate educational opportunity.

In Clover Kids, youth investigate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). They explore literacy through fun and engaging ways to read and write. Clover Kids learn the importance of being healthy and physically active. They practice communication skills and learn to work as a team. Monthly, Clover Kids play fun and cooperative games and make new friends. They are able to exhibit projects at the Tama County Fair. And so much more!

Clover Kids do not have to have animals or live in the country to participate. It is open to everyone. There is no fee to attend (groups may ask for donation of supplies or to purchase a t-shirt for fair).

Tama County has three Clover Kid groups.

Gladbrook Clover Kids is led by Autumn Sash, Cheryl Bruene and Kathleen Chizek. This group meets the second Sunday of each month at 4 p.m. at the Gladbrook Memorial Building.

Clutier Clover Kids is led by Tina Cibula and Lindsay Upah. This group meets the second Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. at the Clutier Community Church.

Tama Toledo Clover Kids is led by Ashley Murty and Shaya Sorensen. This group meets the first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Tama County Extension Office.

Garwin Roughriders and Buckingham Boosters invite Clover Kids to be part of their 4-H clubs.

In addition to these groups, youth in grades kindergarten to third grade can participate in workshops and day camps scheduled throughout the year. In June, there will be a day camp in Traer, Toledo and Gladbrook.

This year the group has learned about magnets, shadows, Money makes cents, teeth, and Johnny Appleseed. Sessions last approximately an hour and involve a story, craft, activity, and snack. Tama County currently has 48 enrolled Clover Kids.
