Tecklenburg’s arm and bat overcome Hudson

Senior Ted Tecklenburg had a big night on the mound and at the plate as the Union baseball team beat Hudson 8-1. Tecklenburg threw a complete game giving up no earned runs, six hits, walking two, and striking out six Hudson batters. At the plate, he had two singles, a run scored, three RBIs, and one stolen base.

Hudson scored their lone run in the top of the third inning. Union responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Dylan Stech reached on a base on balls, Carey reached on an error, Holschlag was hit by a pitch; all three ended up scoring in the inning, two on a Tecklenburg single. Union scored five more times in the fourth as Kiler, Sells, Stech, Holschlag, and Tecklenburg all found ways to cross the plate. Kiler reached on a walk, was sacrificed to second by Alex Kane, and then scored on a Bryon Sells single. Sells would move to second on a passed ball and eventually score on a Dylan Stech single. With one out, Holschlag would rip a double and score on a RBI single by Tecklenburg. Junior Alex Barz followed with a single of his own which plated Tecklenburg.

The following had hits for the Knights: Holschlag, Tecklenburg (2), Barz (2), Sells, and Stech.

Union is now 4-2 in conference play and 4-4 overall.
