The North Tama Redhawks got their girls track season underway at the BCLUW Early Bird meet on March 26.

North Tama was the best-finishing area team, coming in fourth place with 63 team points and picking up a team win in the distance medley relay. The Redhawks took first place in the distance medley relay with a time of 4:48.50.

Jadyn Rausch finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.92 and Grace Lidgett collected second place in the 1500 and 3000 meter events, finishing just behind Hudson’s Addison Grady both times.

Redhawks coach Katey Holbach said Lidgett was in fine form.

“I think they did really well,” Holbach said. “[Grace] kind of knew what to expect, she knows Grady from Hudson so she knows where she compares to her to kind of set the tone for her race.”

Other top five finishes for the Redhawks included the 4×800 meter relay who finished second with a time of 11:41.22 and Rylee McLean who also finished second in the discus field event with a throw of 92’08”.

The North Tama sprint medley team finished third with a time of 2:07.27 and Breanna Sebetka finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.95.

The North Tama boys will get their season started Thursday at the boys early bird meet, also at BCLUW.

The girls and boys teams will next be in action together at the Denver co-ed meet on April 6.
