To livestream or not to livestream

At the Tama County Board of Supervisors meeting on March 13, livestreaming was the main topic of discussion. Microphones and cameras have been long sought after by members of Tama County Against Turbines (TCAT), as well as other citizens who wish to watch the proceedings. Livestreaming the supervisors’ meetings would allow locals who work, have health problems, or other mitigating circumstances to watch the meetings at their convenience without driving to Toledo.

The supervisors deemed that further research has to be done before they make any decision. Such systems used for livestreaming vary in price, and it was made clear by the supervisors that they would want a professional system if this is something they choose to do. Rick Watts, I.T. person for Tama County, will be consulted as to what is needed for such a service and the possible prices.

Other business

Updates were made to the county’s Catastrophic Sick Leave policy, as they removed the limit of how many hours an employee can donate and added the availability to donate vacation time.

The County Engineer reported that PCI is still scheduled to commence working on April 3 on the Deer Creek bridge on Business 30 in Toledo. PCI is also contracted to replace a bridge on K avenue north of 400th Street; a project date is set for late June.
