TRAER – On an ‘eggstraordinary’ spring morning last Saturday, the Traer Chamber of Commerce hosted the community’s annual Easter Egg Hunt for children 10 and younger – taking over the event this year from the previous organizer, the North Tama P.T.O.

The park’s west hillside near the recently refurbished gazebo was awash in colorful plastic eggs stuffed with candy by Traer’s business community members.

Also on hand for the well-attended event were North Tama High School students Ryan and Mason Hosek who (like in years past) brought several baby animals for show-and-tell including bunnies and chicks. The Easter bunny herself was present as well for photo opportunities.

The official hunt kicked off just after 10 a.m. at Chamber member Amber Monat’s directive. As children streamed all over the place in search of eggs, Buckingham toddler Alahna Estle, age 1, made her way around a very small section of the hunt’s 0-3 area, collecting a few eggs for her basket with the help of her mom Mercedes Estle.

“She’s barely walking,” Alahna’s grandmother Tammi Neuendorf said before adding with a laugh, “We had to herd the other kids around her.”
