Salt Creek Preparedness open for business

Ryan and Meghan Currens are the owners of Salt Creek Preparedness LLC. Salt Creek Preparedness specializes in emergency preparedness consulting, emergency preparedness equipment sales, emergency preparedness training and grant writing.

Ryan has been a Traer Firefighter for 8 years, a Clutier Firefighter for 2 1/2 years, and was previously the Tama County Emergency Management Coordinator and 911 Director. Ryan is a certified Emergency Manager, has been to the National Fire Academy in Emmetsburg Maryland and the National Emergency Management Institute also in Emmetsburg Maryland, he is also a Field Instructor for the Iowa Fire Marshal’s “Fire Service Training Bureau” where he has been teaching fire and emergency response skills for 7 years as a certified firefighter and fire instructor.

Ryan has his Master of Arts from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis in Public Policy, his Bachelor of Science from UIU in Public Administration and his Associates of Applied Science from Hawkeye in Natural Resource Management. Meghan has her Masters of Business Administration, also from the University of St. Thomas (where they met) and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Benedict College in Collegeville MN.

Ryan is very familiar with the emergency preparedness world, as an Eagle Scout he worked for 6 summers as a survival and outdoor skills instructor at Camp Mitigwa Boy Scout Camp and was in the infantry when he was in the Army. Ryan is originally from rural Traer and Meghan is from the Twin Cities. They have two sons, Jimmy and Charlie.

Salt Creek Preparedness will be offering classes for emergency preparedness in the near future, the first one of which is scheduled for 11-8-2014 at 9:00am at Hesperia Lodge (612 2nd Street, Traer, IA 50675), registration can be taken over the phone at: (319) 464-7316 or via e-mail at: info@saltcreekprep.com
