Letter to the Editor: NuCara pharmacy closure
I am writing with a concern about our NuCara Pharmacy in Traer closing suddenly. Many people in our community rely on the services of the pharmacy. They don’t want to drive to another town to get their prescriptions filled. Plus, the pharmacy has gift items, cards, over the counter meds, candy and medical equipment. All the employees will be losing their jobs.
Apparently one bad apple still spoils the whole batch! One NuCara pharmacy allegedly mismanaged their finances. According to “Iowa Capital Dispatch,” they owe $22 million to the state of Iowa. A lawsuit was filed in Polk County District Court.
Interesting to know that a state legislator, Brett Barker from Story County, is vice president of operations for NuCara. He says he had “no knowledge of what was going on.” Do you think if a VP of a company can’t follow the rules, he has any business in the state legislature? For more information, here is a website: https://iowacapitaldispatch.com/2026/03/16.
I truly hope something can be done to rectify the situation.
