Kaufmann scores 30+ in back-to-back games

The North Tama boys have also found new life after the break, winning three straight games to bring their record to 5-6 as of Tuesday.

The Jan. 14 contest against Clarksville was an 83-48 blowout that saw three Redhawks score in double figures. Taylor Dinsdale led the team with 22 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine assists. Paul Kaufmann scored 17 and grabbed a team-high six rebounds, and Logan Zobel added 11 points.

Kaufmann followed up that performance with back-to-back 30-point games. The Redhawks beat Northeast Hamilton 64-62 behind Kaufmann’s 31-point, 10-rebound performance on January 17.

Kaufmann’s hot shooting continued the following day, when he hit six 3-pointers and grabbed 11 rebounds, scoring 32 points in all, en route to a 69-45 victory over Valley Lutheran.

Kaufmann is now averaging 22.7 points per game and also leads the team with 7.8 rebounds per game. He is currently shooting over 43 percent from beyond the arc.

The boys (5-6) take on Dunkerton on the road Thursday night before returning home to face Colo-Nesco (9-3) on Friday evening at 8 p.m.
