The girls’ and boys’ Redhawk basketball teams both lost to the Baxter Bolts in an Iowa Star South Conference Division match-up last Friday night, Dec. 16 in Traer. Both Bolts’ teams currently lead the conference with five wins apiece.

While North Tama’s girls’ team lost by 18 points, 45-27, the Redhawk boys ran up a more than 30 point deficit by halftime, eventually losing to the Bolts, 70-27.

Junior guard Jared Dvorak led the offense for the Redhawks with 8 points including two 3-pointers, while senior forward/guard Michael Schrier was the defensive leader with nine rebounds.

The Redhawks had 23 rebounds total in comparison to the Bolts’ 32. Turnovers plagued North Tama throughout the night – 26 to the Bolts’ 14.

While not the highest scorer for the Bolts against the Redhawks, Baxter senior forward Carson Scroggins – standing 6-foot-4-inches — several times caused mouths to drop in the Traer gymnasium by dunking the ball from a right side approach.
