WATERLOO – RedTail Softball head coach Courtney Calkins announces the signing of Adelyn Sienknecht to the 2024-2025 recruiting class. Sienknecht is the daughter of Randy and Melissa Sienknecht and attends North Tama High School. Adelyn plans on studying agricultural business during her time at Hawkeye Community College.

“I am thrilled to add Adelyn to our 2024 class!” commented Coach Calkins. “She brings an energy and love for the game that will be infectious. She is willing to put the time in to make herself and her teammates better.”

A pitcher and infielder, Sienknecht has found success on the field. She spent the last few years at Green Mountain-Garwin High School. During her time there, she has collected 18 wins on the mound with a 3.19 ERA. During her junior campaign, she struck out 96 while only walking 24. Over the course of her career, she has pitched over 350 innings and has 228 total strikeouts with her senior season coming up this summer. At the plate, Sienknecht has a .276 batting average with a .353 on base percentage. Last season she had 21 hits including 5 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun, and 16 RBIs.

For her efforts, Adelyn has been named First Team All-Conference her sophomore and junior year. She has also been named First Team All-Conference for volleyball for four consecutive years and was Second Team All-Conference for basketball her sophomore and junior year.

Outside of sports, Sienknecht is a part of many different clubs and organizations. She is in National Honor Society, American Junior Auxiliary, Future Business Leaders of America, and participates in band where she was the Band President and was inducted to the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She is also a part of FFA where she has participated in several contests, earning many Gold and Silver Rankings and the Chapter Effort Plaque. Adelyn has participated in 4-H, earning several livestock awards and the Senior Leadership Award. She has also been named 2022 Tama County Beef Queen, 2023 Tama County Fair Queen, Mid-Iowa Youth Beef Team where she received the Youth Beef Team Diamond level award for 3 years.

Sienknecht had this to say, “I chose Hawkeye because it gives me the opportunity to start my agriculture major that will easily transfer to a bigger university while still being able to play the sport I love. After meeting with Coach Courtney and visiting campus, I really liked her emphasis on succeeding in the classroom while still having the drive to succeed on the field. I am excited to be part of the new program and become close with my new teammates!”

“Adelyn is a go-getter. She loves a challenge and always goes the extra mile. On the field, she will compliment our pitching staff and will keep hitters on their toes. Off the field, she will be a great representation of our program and the culture we are building here. I am excited to see her grow and accomplish many things here at Hawkeye!” said Coach Calkins.’
