TRAER – North Tama’s Kayler Morris has committed to continue both his academic and basketball careers at Central College in Pella next school year.
On the afternoon of Thursday, May 7, Morris gathered with members of his family, activities director Andrew Knaack, and Principal Taylor Howard in the main gymnasium to mark the occasion.
During the 2025-26 season, Morris, a 5-foot-11 guard, led North Tama to a 12-10 record – the Redhawks’ best since the 2021-22 season. A first-team all-conference pick, he dominated the hardwood from end to end, scoring the second-most points in the Iowa Star-South to average 19.4 points per game while racking up the most 3-pointers (55) and the most steals (67).
In addition to playing basketball for the Dutch, Morris plans to major in sports medicine. He told the newspaper he will be joined on the Central men’s basketball team next year by several of his AAU teammates.
Morris follows in North Tama Class of 2013 alum Mitchell Boerm’s footsteps. Dr. Boerm played basketball (as well as football) for the Dutch.
