Monat notches 100th career win, bracket championship at West Delaware

MANCHESTER – Redhawks senior wrestler Maxon “Max” Monat, a two-time state qualifier, secured not only a bracket championship last Saturday but also his 100th career win while on the mats during the Bob Murphy Varsity Tournament on Dec. 6, 2025. Monat (center) is pictured with his teammates at West Delaware High School celebrating the milestone accomplishment. Wrestling at 126 pounds this season, Monat defeated Benton Community’s Jason Eastman by decision 10-7 to capture the championship. The Redhawks competed at West Delaware on the fly due to the Saint Ansgar Invitational, at which they were originally scheduled to compete, being canceled due to weather. Also at West Delaware, Berkley Dvorak placed fourth at 150 pounds; Drayke Dvorak (132), Chase Morris (120), and Maddox Rausch (138) each placed fifth; and Cael Nelson (113) and Taveon “Tae” Williams (106) both earned seventh. Overall, the Redhawks placed eighth out of 10 teams (Class 2A and 3A) with 73 points. Indianola placed first with 298, followed by the hosts with 216.5, Anamosa with 155, and Benton Community with 145.5.
