A teacher within the Union Community School District is being investigated for emails exchanged with students, according to a press release from Superintendent Travis Fleshner.

“While the public media and social media have shared information regarding this matter, the school district has and is following our school policies regarding the release of information,” Fleshner said.

The teacher in question has been placed on paid administrative leave as an investigation continues.

The school district’s attorney has been involved in reviewing documents, policies and procedures since the initial concern was brought forth, according to Fleshner.

“I am aware that there are and will continue to be questions circulating regarding this matter. I would encourage you to contact me with any questions as we continue to work through this process. Please understand that this is a personnel matter, and I am somewhat limited in what I can share with anyone not involved in the investigation,” Fleshner said.

Fleshner told TV station KCRG news last week that parents shouldn’t jump to conclusions with their understanding of the situation.
