“These girls have done some big and exciting things this season,” girls head coach Katey Holbach said in a Facebook posting ahead of the conference meet. “I can’t wait to see what they continue to do as we get closer to Conference and Districts. State qualifier

The North Tama High School track team will head to Hudson on Thursday, May 12, for the coed Class 1A State Qualifying Meet (site 5) where they’ll face many of the same teams they competed against in Baxter.

Events are set to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Hudson High School track located at 136 South Washington Street in Hudson.

No more than 24 athletes from each state qualifier event will advance to the 2022 Iowa High School State Track & Field Championships currently set for May 19-21 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Last year North Tama sent several athletes to state track including Jules Breakenridge in the 800-meter run and Grace Lidgett in both the 1500-meter run and the 3000-meter run. The girls’ distance medley relay quartet also went to state in 2021.

Tickets for this year’s state qualifier must be purchased online through the IHSAA Tickets page: https://www.iahsaa.org/tickets/.
