Traer Sesquicentennial Committee to screen “A Place for Heroes” on Sunday, July 16
TRAER – This Sunday, July 16, the Traer Sesquicentennial Committee will be screening the movie “A Place for Heroes” which was filmed in Traer and Clutier as part of its ‘Flick and a Feast’ event.
“A Place for Heroes” is a 2014 film starring Paul Sorvino in the title role of a World War II veteran. The movie was filmed locally in 2012 with many of the contemporary scenes taking place in Traer and Clutier, while the 1943 flash back scenes were shot at the Z.C.J.B. Hall in Clutier.
During the film shoot, many local residents either worked as extras in the film or helped house and feed the actors.
The film centers around the death of Paul Sorvino’s WWII veteran character, leading his estranged daughter on a “journey to learn the truth of her father’s love, sacrifice, and a different kind of heroism,” according to a description from the movie’s IMDb webpage.
