Comets clip Redhawks

Conner Ubben connected with Will Garber on a 17-yard, go-ahead touchdown with 55 seconds left, and Ty Runge’s two-point conversion catch completed BCLUW’s 14-7 victory over North Tama in Friday’s Class A District 4 clash.

The visiting Comets (2-3, 1-1) ended a three-game skid, rallying back for the game-winning score with a 96-yard drive that reached the end zone.

Ubben finished 7-for-17 for 124 yards but with two interceptions. Garber’s two catches went for 61 yards, and Runge had two grabs for 32 yards.

Running back Clarke Macy had 82 yards on 20 carries, reaching the end zone on a 9-yard run in the first quarter. Blake Cooper paced the Comet defense with 12 tackles and Lane Caster had an interception.

A 9-yard pass from Brody Hulme to Riley Rohach was North Tama’s lone score. Hulme ended 14-for-27 for 111 yards.

Omar Martinez caught seven balls for 52 yards and was the leading rusher, carrying 12 times for 62 yards. Caden Stuart had three receptions for 40 yards for the Redhawks (1-5, 1-2).
